Speed Bumps That Last

Southside Bitumen Driveways - Asphalt Speed Bumps

Quality Asphalt Speed Bumps

Speed Bumps are an important addition to any trafficable area that requires motorists to slow down or maintain a reduced speed limit for the safety of other motorists and pedestrians.

There are several different types of speed bumps available, however many of them do not last very long at all.

Metal, rubber or plastic are best suited only to a concrete surface as these use anchors to fasten them. In high traffic areas they often become loose and are dislodged from the road surface. Eventually, these sections will fall out and require replacement. Metal speed bumps also become very noisy with age and rubber and plastic can wear down in high traffic areas.
Damaged Speed Bump

At Southside Bitumen Driveways, I can construct quality long-lasting Asphalt speed bumps for any area.

I apply a special bitumen bonding agent to the area first. Hot asphalt is then used to form up the shape and can be made to any size you may require.
Each Asphalt speed bump is rolled and compacted twice during construction using a pedestrian roller and not a vibrating plate.
Widths from 400 – 500mm are typically used for a speed bump and up to three meters wide for a raised pedestrian crossing.
Asphalt speed bumps can also be constructed on uneven ground, have no weight limits and have a permanent lifespan.
All speed bumps need to be highly visible, We paint all speed bumps in yellow crosshatching.
